Supermoon Spots

Evangeline Chavez 2011

The Dark Spots are called Maria (the plural for Mare or seas) The Light spots are Terrae (the plural for terra or land)
The lighter parts on the moon are mountains and highlands. They are more visible as they are at higher elevations. The darker parts are lunar maria, basins cut out by ancient lava flows. They have less craters

  1. Thank you for adding that information about the spots.
When doing some research on the moon I came across some interesting facts on the subject. Could you imagine what it would of been like to actually land on the moon and step out, feel and view what we see from afar.

  2. You aware of the “rabbit in the moon?” Supposedly how the Eastern Hemisphere of our planet sees the arrangement of low and high, the dark and light. As compared to our “man in the moon” face that we talk about over here.

Thanks for posting these great photos of a great event!
