ABOUT
In my photos I have tried to capture the essences of New Mexico, thru many of our cultures that we have here. The Native Americans beliefs, and traditions are still guarded by them and practiced as they were many years ago. You can visit the older pueblos and see their simple life, and the pride that they hold in their land.Their dances and ceremonies pay respect to their ancestors, nature and daily life. They have stayed together as one by being bonded thru their pueblos and leaders.
The Hispanic culture , customs and family traditions have a major presence everywhere in New Mexico, from street names to adobe architecture to art, dance and music. As you travel thru New Mexico you can see these two cultures stand alone or intermingle. Please enjoy some of the photos of my rambling travels through out New Mexico.
With my photos of China I was focused on their culture, history and unforgettable faces of the people.
I hope these memorable images that will resonant long after you view my photos.
My latest project is documenting important events for personal use and for a book project Rick Carver, put together, called, ” A Year or So in the Life of New Mexico”. Fifty artist donated their time and photos for this book. All the proceeds from the book will go to Esperanza a Shelter for Battered Families in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I teach at a junior college in Abilene, Texas. Teach world civ. and U.S. history. Used to teach anthropology up in Amarillo. Just making ends meet, muddling through until retirement. Ph.D. research in U.S.-Mexican relations, 19th century. What is your field? I thought it must be photography, you do so well.
